The ideal candidate will possess an advanced degree in biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology, organic chemistry, pharmacology, or a related field.  Candidates must have five years of chemical or biotech prosecution, PTAB post-grant proceedings, and/or opinion experience.  Must be registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office.  Top academic credentials, strong analytical abilities, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work well on a team are required.  Rothwell Figg offers a hybrid work schedule, competitive salaries, and excellent benefits.

Rothwell Figg is seeking a Docketing Specialist with at least five years of solid experience of U.S. and foreign patent prosecution procedures.  Successful candidates must have knowledge of Inprotech® or similar docketing software products; have excellent written and oral communication skills; be detail oriented; have strong organizational skills; and must be a team player.  This position requires flexibility to work overtime as needed.  Some college is preferred.  Rothwell Figg offers a hybrid work schedule, excellent benefits, and competitive salaries.  This is an in-office position and it will be located in the Washington, DC office.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Reserve new matter numbers from accounting and docket new patent and trademark applications;
  • Review and process transfer-in files and update the docket system accordingly;
  • Docket incoming (PTO, PCT and Foreign Associate) correspondences as needed;
  • Review incoming and outgoing emails and update the docket system accordingly;
  • Clear the docket on a daily basis to ensure that deadlines are met and the system is properly updated;
  • Process EFS receipts and assist in quality control by reviewing the filing and referring to any errors or omissions observed during the normal course of processing the EFS receipt;
  • Prepare client status reports for attorneys as needed;
  • Provide assistance with overflow docketing and/or coverage as assigned by the Docketing Manager;
  • Process attorney special requests including, case closing, client matter changes, assignment changes, etc.; and
  • Perform electronic searches with the USPTO, WIPO, and Foreign websites as needed.
