Rothwell Figg is seeking a Foreign Patent Prosecution Paralegal with at least 5 years of foreign filing experience in all aspects of PCT and foreign patent prosecution applications, including filing, formalities, annuities, researching and reporting, cost estimating, and maintenance of a docket.  Successful candidates must have knowledge of PCT and foreign patent rules and procedures; excellent written and oral communication skills; strong organizational skills; and detail oriented.  Bachelor’s degree preferred.  This position requires flexibility to work overtime as needed.  Rothwell Figg offers a hybrid work schedule, excellent benefits, and competitive salaries.  This is hybrid work position that is located in the Washington, DC office.
 
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Manage foreign patent applications for clients with attorney supervision;
  • Prepare correspondence related to foreign patent applications to clients and Foreign associates;
  • Prepare conversion deadline letters to client and prepare cost estimates;
  • Prepare PCT International Applications and process PCT Forms from WIPO and report to clients;
  • Prepare National Applications and PCT National Phase applications for forwarding to Foreign Associates, monitor applications and report to clients;
  • Prepare formality documents and obtain legalized documents for filing in foreign Patent Offices;
  • Process Letters Patent documents and report to clients;
  • Work with annuity service to pay client patent renewal; and
  • Managing and clearing a daily and personal docket.
 
Salary Range: $80,000 - $105,000

Rothwell Figg is seeking a Patent Formalities Clerk with 1-2 years of experience. This position will review, process and report to the client all formalities documents after filing new patent applications. Successful candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; strong organizational skills and detailed oriented; and must be a team player. This position requires flexibility to work overtime as needed. College degree preferred. Rothwell Figg offers a hybrid work schedule, excellent benefits, and competitive salaries.  This is a hybrid work position that is located in the Washington, DC office.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Review, process and report to the client all formalities documents after filing of new applications such as Filing Receipts, responses to Missing Parts, notices on Assignment recordation, notices on Powers of Attorney, Notices of Publication, Office Actions, Issue Notifications, and patent deeds;
  • Interfacing with attorneys, docketing, foreign filing, patent secretaries, and other support staff; and communicating with clients;
  • Prepare draft amendments and download relevant references noted in office actions;
  • Prepare Information Disclosure Statements and download references;
  • Prepare various reporting letters to forward documents and request any missing items; and
  • Routine clerical and file maintenance duties.
 
Salary Range: $55,000 – $65,000
